Growing in Asia
Growing in Asia
Ardian has been present in Asia since 2005, and the recent opening of its Hong Kong office marks the firm’s fifth location in Asia. Jan Philipp Schmitz described the growth over the past twelve months as a strong signal of what lies ahead, driven by an uptick in interest in secondaries and expanding investments in Europe. Private credit remains a younger asset class in Asia, and Ardian's expertise is helping investors navigate it with confidence.
I’m pleased with the growth we’ve seen in Asia in these last twelve months. It’s above our expectations.

When asked about the growing interest in secondaries, Jan Philipp Schmitz cited the jump in the market from around 110 billion in 2023 to over 230 billion in 2025. He noted that it’s no longer the niche it once was, pointing to a rise in first-time sellers and a preference for early exits driven by a need for liquidity. On software, he stressed the importance of distinguishing between businesses being disrupted by AI and those integrating it to accelerate growth and projected that the sector's long-term potential remains substantial.
