The Data Science team

The Data Science team collaborates closely with the investment teams to develop innovative analytical methods and work alongside portfolio companies, identifying opportunities for additional value creation through data. Their goal is to understand business challenges and tackle them by applying scientific methodologies, leveraging computing and emerging technologies.

Initially, the team focused on infrastructure sectors (renewable energy, transport) before expanding its efforts globally to cover all of Ardian's investment activities.

Guillaume enjoys his job because it constantly challenges him. He has the opportunity to address complex and exciting problems across various industries, including energy, telecommunications, and transportation. Staying ahead of the curve by adapting to the latest technologies is a core part of his job. This, along with the diversity of subjects he covers, makes his work both exciting and stimulating.

An exciting project?

OPTA is a project that Guillaume is excited about. He and his team developed an application that collects real-time data from sensors installed on renewable assets (wind farms, solar farms, etc.). The OPTA application then generates automated analyses to optimize operational performance, refine energy commercialization strategies, and enhance portfolio construction. This project was made possible through close collaboration between portfolio companies, investment teams, IT, and the Data Science team.

To succeed as a Data Scientist, a combination of business insight, strong quantitative skills, and a passion for emerging technologies is essential. Key qualities such as listening, curiosity, and rigor are necessary to understand complex issues and propose innovative solutions. Effective communication is also crucial to clearly present and explain those solutions.
