With flights to over 200 destinations, Heathrow is the world’s best-connected airport and the UK’s largest international hub. It plays a central role in driving global business and tourism, while employing over 80,000 people on site, making it the UK’s largest single-site employer.

Planning for sustainable expansion

Although it operates with just two runways, Heathrow handles nearly half of London’s air traffic. To meet rising demand, the airport is preparing to increase capacity through the addition of a third runway, while aiming to enhance efficiency and deliver long-term value.

Investing in decarbonization and innovation

The airport has maintained carbon neutrality for scopes 1 and 2 for several years. Ardian is supporting the airport’s decarbonization journey through tools like AirCarbon, developed by its Data Science team to monitor scope 3 emissions in real time.

Heathrow also recently committed to increasing SAF (sustainable aviation fuel) usage, aiming to significantly reduce flight-related emissions.
